Transfer to third countries

HZN uses tools and services of companies and social networks outside the European Union. We are obliged to inform you that third parties such as Google LLC may transfer your personal data to the U.S. where it may become available to U.S. government services in accordance with their legal regulations currently in force.

We care about the protection of your data and therefore we have put in place mechanisms that will provide an even higher level of protection.

We will inform you of any measures taken and amend this policy accordingly. If you are interested in how third parties amend their data protection policies, visit https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US.

The website repository.hzn.hr uses certain Google Analytics services on the basis of which Google LLC (hereinafter: Google) collects certain personal data through cookies.

What cookies are used by Google LLC and its affiliates?

Google services mean the following:

  • Google apps
  • Google sites
  • search, YouTube and Google Home platforms such as Chrome browser and Android operating system
  • products integrated into third-party applications and websites such as ads; and
  • built-in Google Maps.

When you are logged in and interact with some Google services, e.g. post a video comment on YouTube, your name and picture will be displayed next to your activities. Google may also display this information in ads, depending on your settings.

Google may share certain categories of data publicly and with its partners, e.g. advertisers or developers. Google also allows certain partners to collect information from your browser or device for advertising and measurement purposes through its own cookies or similar technologies.

Google uses cookies for many purposes, e.g. to remember your secure search settings, display only ads that are relevant for you, count individual site visitors, help you register for specific Google services, protect your information or remember your ad preferences.

Below is a list of cookie types used by Google.

1. Preferences cookies

These cookies allow Google sites to remember information that affect their behaviour or appearance, e.g. the selected language or your location. Once a site remembers your location, it can offer local weather or traffic news. These cookies can also help you change the text size, font and other parts of a website that can be customized.

If information stored in a settings cookie are lost, the website may lose some of its functionalities but this should not prevent its operation.

Example:
Most Google users have a preferences cookie called ‘NID’ in their browsers. A browser sends this cookie with requests to Google’s sites. The NID cookie contains a unique ID Google uses to remember your preferences and other information, such as your preferred language (e.g. English), how many search results you wish to have shown per page (e.g. 10 or 20), and whether or not you wish to have Google’s SafeSearch filter turned on.

2. Security cookies

Google uses security cookies to authenticate users and protect user data.

Example:
Cookies called ‘SID’ and ‘HSID’ contain digitally signed and encrypted records of a user’s Google Account ID and most recent sign-in time. The combination of these cookies allows Google to block many types of attack, such as attempts to steal the content of forms submitted in Google services.

3. Process cookies

Process cookies help a website to react correctly and provide the expected services, e.g. navigating through web pages and accessing protected website areas. Without these cookies, a website will not function properly.

Example:
A cookie called "lbcs" in Google Docs allows multiple documents to be opened in one browser. If this cookie is blocked, Google Docs will not be able to run properly.

4. Advertising cookies

Google uses these cookies to make ads more appealing to users and more valuable to publishers and advertisers. They are typically used to select user-relevant ads, improve campaign performance reporting or to prevent a user from seeing the same ads more than once.

Example:
Google uses cookies such as the NID or SID to personalize ads in Google products such as Google Search, e.g. to record your most recent searches, your previous interactions with an advertiser's ads or search results, and your visits to an advertiser's website. This allows Google to provide you with personalized advertising.

Google also uses cookies for ads it serves across the web. One of the most important ad cookie for non-Google sites is called an "ID". It is stored in browsers under the domain doubleclick.net. Another such cookie, ANID, is stored under the domain google.com.

Google uses other cookies, too, such as DSID, FLC, AID, TAID and exchange_uid. Other Google products, such as YouTube, may also use such cookies to serve more relevant ads.

Sometimes a cookie is set for the domain of the website you are visiting. In case of ads served by Google across the web, a cookie named "__gads" "__gac” may be set for the domain of the website you visit.

Google cannot read these cookies when you visit sites where they are not set.

Their purpose is to measure interactions with ads on this domain and prevent excessive display of the same ads to users.

Google also uses conversion cookies, primarily to help advertisers determine how many of the people who click on their ads end up buying their products.

5. Session cookies

Websites often collect information about how users interact with them. This includes which pages users visit most often and whether they receive error messages from certain pages. Google uses these so-called "session cookies" to optimize its services and give users a better browsing experience.

Blocking or deleting these cookies does not affect the use of the website.

These cookies can also be used to anonymously measure the effectiveness of PPC (pay per click) and affiliate advertising.

Example:
For example, a cookie called "recently_watched_video_id_list" is used to help YouTube track the videos last viewed in a particular browser.

6. Analytics cookies

Google Analytics is Google's analytics tool that gives website and app owners, including repozitorij.hzn.hr, insights into how their users interact with the resources they offer. Google Analytics may use certain cookies to collect data and share website usage statistics without obtaining information that would make individual users personally identifiable to Google. The main Google Analytics cookie is "_ga". For more information on which analytics cookies are used by the Controller see the above table showing which cookies are used by repozitorij.hzn.hr.

In addition to sharing usage statistics, the Google Analytics pixel tag may, along with some of the advertising cookies described above, also help to deliver more relevant ads within Google products such as Google Search and across the web and measure interaction with such ads.
